How To Print

BASIC PRINTING TIPS

1) Make sure you have Adobe Reader downloaded on your computer to print. This is a free program that can be downloaded HERE. If you do not open your file with this program and print from your downloaded link or a preview, your insert will not print correctly!

2) Once your file is on your computer, make sure you are opening it up in Adobe Reader. Your printer will NOT center your insert if you are not printing from this program!

3) You should make sure that your print settings look like the below picture with ACTUAL size chosen for your insert and that your orientation is on auto. Make sure that your insert looks centered in the preview! Your preview of the insert before printing should show it in the center of the page. If it is showing it in the top left corner, it is usually because you have chosen a setting that is causing it to do that.

4) IF you have a duplex printer, hit printer on the bottom left corner and you will come up with this screen.

5) From the drop down menu, choose LAYOUT and from the two-sided drop down, choose SHORT-EDGE BINDING. This will ensure that your pages will print right side up when they are flipped. LONG EDGE BINDING SHOULD BE CHOSEN FOR THE FOLLOWING SIZES: A5 Wide Rings, A5 Rings, Skinny Mini HP, HWeeks, HWeeks Wide, Half Letter HP & all sizes that print 4 pages to 1 page.

5) From the drop down menu, choose LAYOUT and from the two-sided drop down, choose SHORT-EDGE BINDING. This will ensure that your pages will print right side up when they are flipped.

6) Printers that are NOT duplex printing printers will need to manually print their back pages. Print all of your odd pages first and take notice of how your pages come out of the printer so that you reorder your pages back the correct way so that the next even page after the actual odd page is printing on the back (ie: page 2 prints behind page 1, etc.) Keep the file open on your computer to reference the page numbers when you are folding and cutting. Keep all odd numbers facing down and stack each sheet as you cut along the cut lines. Once you cut all sheets, fold the entire stack in half into a booklet and insert them into your travelers notebook!

RING BOUND PRINTING TIPS

RING BOUND and DISC BOUND inserts are designed so that you are printing two pages at a time, with the exception of new changes to certain sizes. (A5 and Classic HP are one to a page and Micro HP and Pocket rings are four to a page). They are set up as a conversion from a travelers notebook insert and also to conserve paper by printing 2 pages per sheet.

The left side of the insert will have the holes punched on the right and the right side of the insert will have the holes punched on the left. The pink holes indicate where holes are punched and the pink dotted line shows where you would cut them in half. At the top of the insert, there will be a small line down the middle of the insert to indicate where to cut.

To begin printing these ringbound inserts, make sure you are printing scaled at 100% or actual size and in Adobe Reader. You can download Adobe Reader for free on their website if you do not have it on your computer. Do NOT try to print off of your download link as that will skew your print job.

If you do not have a duplex printing printer, you will print all odd pages first and then followed by all even pages next. Make sure when loading your pages back into your computer tray that the order in which they are printing is adjusted. Usually that means the last page of the odd pages that is printed will go on the bottom of the stack when you put them back in.

Once all of your pages are printed, cut your inserts along the outside crop marks first. You will see a short thin line at the top of the cut pages that goes down the middle. This is the line you will cut down the middle to make two separate pages.

Before cutting the middle line, stack your pages in their correct order. When looking at this stack, the right half of the inserts will have their holes punched on the left and the left half of the inserts will have their holes punched on the right. Keep these stacks in order to make it easier to assemble later on.

Once the stack is cut, you will take the stack with the holes punched on the right and put them in your ringed planner with the cover facing down. Then take the stack with the holes punched on the left and put them in so that the cover is on top and this entire stack will go on top of the last stack you put in.
